Any two periods of limited capability for work (ie days in which you have a limited capability for work) that are separated by no more than 12 weeks are treated as a single period. Therefore, if you have to reclaim ESA within 12 weeks of a previous award, you will not have to serve any waiting days (see 10 above ).

Additionally, if you had already served the 13-week assessment phase (see 2 above ) in the previous award, you do not have to re-serve this (as long as your previous award did not end because you were found not to have a limited capability for work). If you had served part of the 13-week assessment phase in the previous award, you only have to serve the remaining weeks before you can move into the main phase (see 7 above ).
