If a client fails to make repayments when they are due, the SLC can start recovery by employing a debt recovery agency to collect the debt. It can also apply for a court order to make the client repay the total loan in a single payment. This would be enforced as a civil debt whether the client is in the UK or living abroad, and can lead to further costs and diligences for the client.
