Chapter 11: Time to pay directions and orders
The Debtors (Scotland) Act 1987 introduced two ‘diligence stoppers’: ‘time to pay directions’ and ‘time to pay orders’.
Clients can use them to ask the court (or First-tier Tribunal (Housing and Property Chamber)) for an extension of time to pay a debt.
This chapter uses the term ‘court’ to cover both the sheriff court and the First-tier Tribunal.
