If your child goes into hospital – If your child goes into hospital, CDP should continue to be paid indefinitely, as long as your child continues to meet the other qualifying conditions (see 3 above). 1DACYP(S) Regs, reg 21

If your child goes into a care home – If your child goes into a care home or residential educational establishment, the care component will be suspended after 28 days. The rules are similar to those of DLA; see Chapter 3(8).

If your child is already in the care home or residential educational establishment when they become entitled to the care component, then it can be paid for up to 28 days.2DACYP(S) Regs, regs 17, 19 & 20
