Other benefits – CDP can usually be paid in full in addition to other social security benefits and tax credits. CDP is ignored as income for means-tested benefits and tax credits, and can lead to higher amounts of these being paid.

If your child goes into legal custody – Payment of the care component is suspended if your child has been in legal custody for 28 days. They can continue to receive any mobility component payable. They are not treated as being in legal detention if they are an inpatient in hospital or a similar institution.1DACYP(S) Regs, reg 18
