Box F.4: The size criteria: absences from home
If any member of your household is temporarily absent from your home, they will still be included in the assessment of the number of bedrooms you are allowed (see 9 in this chapter ) in the following circumstances.
You (or your partner)
You (or your partner) are included:
    ■if you (or they) are temporarily absent from Great Britain (GB) in the circumstances listed in Chapter 52(7) ; or
    ■for the first six months that you (or they) are a prisoner, as long as the sentence is not expected to last longer than that and immediately before becoming a prisoner you (or they) were entitled to universal credit as a single person and the award included the housing costs amount.

Children and young people
Local authority care and prison – A child or qualifying young person (see Chapter 15(4) ) is included for the first six months of their absence if:
    ■they are being looked after by a local authority; or
    ■they are a prisoner,
