You have a large family – If you have a large family, and a provider of social housing (such as a local authority) has housed you in two dwellings that are treated as a single home (see Box F.2 ), your housing costs amount is worked out using a single calculation for both homes. The calculation will include the rent and any service charges for both homes. In assessing the type of accommodation it is deemed reasonable for you to live in (see 9 above ), the total number of bedrooms in both homes is counted.

If you are liable to pay rent or service charges for both homes to a provider of social housing, your housing costs amount is worked out as in 15 below . In any other case, your housing costs amount is worked out as in 12 below .
