Timetable
After a claim form has been accepted, the sheriff clerk issues a timetable for the case to the claimant. This includes:
    the last date for service.1Part 3.11 Simple Procedure Rules This is the date by which the claim form must be formally served on the respondent. This must normally be three weeks before the last date for a response. Note: if the respondent does not live in an EU member state, the last date for service must normally be six weeks before the last date for a response and if the respondent is a business with no place of business in an EU member state, the last date for service must normally be six weeks before the last date for a response; and

Changing the timetable
The claimant, respondent and the sheriff can request the timetable be changed. This could be because of issues with serving the claim – eg, an address unknown or the form being served late. If the sheriff agrees to the timetable change, the sheriff clerk issues a new timetable to all parties.
