Box F.2: Treated as occupying accommodation

Box F.2: Treated as occupying accommodation
The housing costs amount can normally only be included in your universal credit award to cover rent or service charges for the accommodation you occupy as your home. Normally, you can only be treated as occupying one dwelling. However, there are exceptions. This box lists the circumstances in which you can be treated as occupying more than one dwelling, or treated as occupying a dwelling that you are not currently living in.
Housing costs amount for two homes
In the following circumstances
you can be treated as occupying two dwellings, in which case you may get the housing costs amount for both.
Your new home is being adapted
You can be treated as occupying both your new home and your old home for up to one month if:
■
you have moved into a new home and immediately before the move you were liable to pay for the new home;
and
■
there was a delay in moving to enable the new home to be adapted to meet the needs of a disabled person (see below);
and
