18. Capital treated as income
If any capital is payable by instalments, each instalment outstanding when your claim is decided (or on the first day for which the housing benefit or pension credit is paid if this is earlier), or at a later supersession, is treated as income if your total capital, including the outstanding instalments, adds up to more than £16,000. If your total capital is less than or equal to £16,000, each instalment is treated as a payment of capital.
The following are also treated as income:
■periodic personal injury payments made to you under an agreement or court order (see
8 above for when these can be disregarded);
and ■payments from an annuity.
