9. Maintenance payments
Payments made (including those made voluntarily) by ‘liable relatives’ towards the maintenance of children or young people who live with you are disregarded. A liable relative will normally be a former spouse or civil partner or a non-resident parent of the child or young person.

Other maintenance payments (eg spousal maintenance) are taken fully into account, unless you are responsible for a child or young person, in which case £15 will be disregarded. If more than one payment is made in any week, they will be added together and treated as a single payment, so only one disregard can apply.
