Challenging low spending
Clients can sometimes be unrealistic about their expenditure, which can affect their ability to keep to a repayment arrangement. They often underestimate or ignore some expenditure. Common examples include:
•food;
•smoking products;
•replacement of clothes and furniture;
•house maintenance and repair;
•work – eg, travel and lunches;
•running a car;
•birthdays and Christmas gifts.
Try not to suggest unreasonable ways to cut expenditure. It can have an adverse effect on the client.
