4. Representing clients in court
Most sheriff court cases call in open court, so it is useful to know who is who, and what their roles are.
While procedures vary according to what procedure is being used, the general process in each case is roughly the same and as are the officers of the court.
It is important for a debt adviser to have good verbal communication and presentation skills if they are to represent clients in court action. A good practice is to attend court as an observer prior to carrying out any representation to see how the court process is carried out.
