Parental support

Students with responsibility for at least one child up to the age of 15 (17 if the child is registered with special educational needs) can apply for an additional non-means-tested grant of £2,000 to meet the costs associated with that child. You do not receive more than £2,000 if you have more than one child. The grant does not affect other funding sources, and is paid in three instalments throughout the year. Note: this funding was previously known as the Child Dependant’s Allowance.
