European Union nationals

Following the UK’s exit from the EU in January 2021, EU nationals’ access to student support for new courses in 2021/22 or later is significantly reduced, though some exceptions apply, including Irish nationals. Residency rules for accessing the NHS bursary are in line with rules for other higher education student support (see here for England and here for Wales). If you are an EU national who started your course before 2021/22 and have been assessed as eligible for funding, this will continue until you complete or otherwise leave your course.
