5. Initial teacher training in Northern Ireland
Students accepted on a course of initial teacher training in Northern Ireland in the 2021/22 academic year, including PGCE courses, receive the same funding as undergraduate students (see
here–
here). This means that PGCE students are liable for tuition fees, but can take out a loan to cover these.
You can apply for funding through Student Finance NI.
The additional financial incentives available for undergraduate and PGCE study in England and Wales are not available in Northern Ireland, but Northern Irish students studying in England or Wales can claim these.
