4. Maternity allowance and severe disablement allowance
If you are temporarily absent from GB, you can continue to be paid maternity allowance or severe disablement allowance (SDA) for the first 26 weeks of the absence if the DWP agrees. There is no right of appeal if they refuse; your only recourse is judicial review. You are not subject to the 26-week limit and do not require DWP agreement if you are receiving attendance allowance, disability living allowance, personal independence payment, pension age disability payment, adult disability payment, child disability payment, Scottish adult disability living allowance or armed forces independence payment. However, in all cases you must satisfy one of the following conditions:
    ■at the time you go abroad you have been continuously incapable of work for at least six months and remain continuously incapable while abroad; or
    ■you have gone abroad ‘for the specific purpose of being treated’ by another person for an illness or disability that be
