7. Disabled child premium
This premium applies only to housing benefit. It can be awarded in addition to any of the other premiums. The disabled child premium is £84.46 a week for each child who lives with you and counts as disabled. Your child counts as disabled if they:
■are certified by a consultant ophthalmologist as severely sight impaired or blind or have ceased to be so certified in the past 28 weeks; or
■receive disability living allowance (DLA), child disability payment, Scottish adult DLA, personal independence payment, adult disability payment or armed forces independence payment.
