4. Enhanced disability premium
The enhanced disability premium d
oes not apply to pension credit. It is £22 a week for a single person and £31.40 for a couple where one or both qualify. You or your partner qualify for this premium if you or they:
■
are paid a qualifying benefit – see below;
or
■
have, or can be treated as having, a limited capability for work-related activity – see
Chapter 12(5)
-(6).
■
The
‘qualifying benefits’
are:
■
disability living allowance (DLA), Scottish adult DLA and child disability payment highest rate care component;
■
personal independence payment and adult disability payment enhanced rate daily living component;
and
■
armed forces independence payment.
The enhanced disability premium can be awarded in addition to any disability premium or severe disability premium that may be payable. It is payable only while the person who qualifies is under pension age.
If your qualifying benefit is withdrawn while you are in hospital, you won’t lose the enhanced disability premium.
