9. How income is calculated
In calculating universal credit, your income is worked out on a month-by-month basis for each assessment period. If you receive regular income payments that are not made on a monthly basis, they are calculated as a monthly amount (eg weekly payments are multiplied by 52 and divided by 12; 4-weekly payments are multiplied by 13 and divided by 12).
If your income fluctuates, the monthly equivalent is calculated over an identifiable cycle, if there is one. If there is no identifiable cycle, the monthly equivalent is calculated over three months (or any other period, if that would give a more accurate figure).
