19. Renal dialysis
If your child undergoes renal dialysis, special rules can help them to qualify for the middle rate care component. Depending on when and where they dialyse, they will be treated as satisfying the disability tests for the day or the night. The conditions are that:
■they undergo renal dialysis two or more times a week; and
■the dialysis is of a type that normally requires the attendance or supervision of another person during the period of the dialysis; or
■because of their particular circumstances (eg their age) during the period of dialysis they need someone to supervise them in order to avoid substantial danger to themselves, or to give them some help with their bodily functions.
