In a coma – If your child’s condition is such that they cannot ‘benefit from enhanced facilities for locomotion’, they won’t be entitled to the mobility component. This generally only excludes children who are in a coma or whose medical condition means it is not safe to move them. If they can get out from time to time, they are not excluded from the mobility component.

The locality – The first three disability tests for the higher rate ignore the effect of where your child lives on their mobility. Therefore, it is irrelevant if they live on a steep hill or far from the nearest bus stop.
