The rules in this chapter may help you to obtain benefits in the UK, or to get your benefit paid in another country. However, if you are moving to or from or within the European Economic Area (EEA), one or more of the sets of European Union co-ordination rules may apply to you instead. These co-ordination rules are covered in Chapter 16 and are cross-referred to in this chapter where relevant.
In this Handbook all references to the EEA are to be read as including Switzerland. The EEA states are listed on here.
