7. Using your MP
If you are not satisfied with the response from the officers to whom you have complained, you may wish to take up the matter with your MP. Your MP may also be able to help if you are getting no response to your complaint.
To find out who your MP is and how to contact her/him, call the House of Commons Enquiry Service on 0800 112 4272 (Freephone) or 020 7219 4272, or go to members.parliament.uk/constituencies.
Your MP will probably want to write to the benefit authority for an explanation of what has happened. If you want to make a complaint to the Ombudsman, you must usually do so through your MP. This does not apply if you are complaining about a local authority or tribunal members.
