8. How do you claim?
You can apply online if you have already claimed state pension. To apply online, go to: https://apply-for-pension-credit.dwp.gov.uk/start . Alternatively, to make a claim over the phone, call 0800 99 1234 (Relay UK 18001 then 0800 99 1234). You can also use these numbers to get a claim-form sent to you; note that a paper claim-form will ask a lot more questions than an online claim will. If you are deaf and use British Sign Language, you may be able to claim using a video relay service (details are at: www.gov.uk/pension-credit/how-to-claim ).
If you are making the claim over the phone, you should have the following handy:
    ■your national insurance number;
    ■details of your income, savings or investments;
    ■your bank account details (if you have one); and
    ■information on any housing costs (eg service charges).
