Your local authority
needs to assess your applicable amount if you are not on universal credit or the guarantee credit of pension credit. Your applicable amount is made up of:
■
personal allowances
– you get one or more of these for various members of your family, including children;
plus
■
premiums
– many people, but not all, get one or more premiums to take account of family responsibilities, disabilities and responsibilities as a carer;
plus
■
additional components
– apply only if you are entitled to main-phase employment and support allowance (ESA).
