3. Work-focused interview condition

3. Work-focused interview condition
This is
a condition that you take part in one or more work-focused interviews.

A work-focused interview is set up to:
■
assess your prospects and assist or encourage you to obtain or stay in work;
■
identify activities you could do or training, educational or rehabilitation opportunities which might make it more likely that you could obtain or stay in work;
■
identify current or future work opportunities relevant to your needs and abilities;
and
■
(for universal credit) find out whether you are in gainful self-employment or are in the start-up period of such employment (see
Chapter 16(5)
).

Most universal credit sanctions currently relate to failures to attend or take part in work-focused interviews. If an interview has been arranged and you cannot take part in it, you should inform your work coach as soon as possible.
