6. If your condition changes
The Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority can re-open your case if you received an award but your medical condition has deteriorated to the extent that the original assessment is unjust given your present condition. It can also re-open a case where a person has since died as a result of the injury. If you apply more than two years after the original decision, it is important to give as much information and medical evidence as you can with your application; the Authority will only consider the application if it has enough evidence without needing to make further extensive enquiries.
