Other benefits – You cannot get SSP while you are receiving employment and support allowance, severe disablement allowance, ‘new style’ jobseeker’s allowance, maternity allowance or statutory maternity/neonatal care/paternity/shared parental/parental bereavement/adoption pay. Other benefits do not affect your entitlement to SSP. See Box D.1 for other circumstances in which you cannot get SSP.

Earnings from another job – If your employer accepts you are incapable of doing the work they employ you to do, you can earn money from a different type of work while receiving SSP. There is no limit on what you can earn from a different job while receiving SSP. However, doing other work may lead an employer to doubt you are genuinely incapable of doing your usual job.

Going into hospital – This will not affect entitlement to SSP.
