3. Working part time or full time
Carer’s allowance and carer support payment – Your carer’s allowance or carer support payment will stop if your earnings after allowable deductions are more than £196 a week (see
Chapter 8(12) ). If your earnings are at or below £196 a week, the amount you get is unaffected.
Universal credit – If your earnings are too high to qualify for carer’s allowance, you can still get a ‘carer amount’ included in your universal credit award (see
Chapter 15(7) ) as long as you meet all the other qualifying conditions for carer’s allowance (see
Chapter 8(2) ). See
