Amount of deposit
The amount of a deposit must not exceed a reasonable amount.1Condition 27.4 SLC The amounts actually requested vary between suppliers. If you consider the amount unreasonable, the amount should be referred to Ofgem. What is reasonable requires a consideration of all relevant facts, including your income and capital and personal factors such as disability and previous payment record. Previously, it was considered that suppliers should only request a deposit of a maximum of 1.5 times the value expected in quarterly consumption.
