European Economic Area students and Swiss nationals
Following the UK’s exit from the European Union (EU), students from the EEA and Switzerland are no longer entitled to NHS treatment during a temporary stay using their European health insurance card (EHIC). Whether you can access healthcare depends on your exact status, when you entered the UK and other factors. See the guidance at for more details. If you are unable to access free treatment you may be required to make payments towards your treatment as with other overseas students (see below). You are strongly advised to check that you have adequate sickness insurance if required.
