•Several one-off payments and benefits for disabled people and carers will eventually be different in Scotland.
•Social Security Scotland (part of the Scottish government) administers and pays the new benefits.
•Three Best Start grants, a funeral support payment and young carer grant have already been introduced.
•In 2020, it is expected that disability living allowance for children will be replaced by child disability payment for new claims and that a new Scottish child payment will be introduced.
•The rules about how to claim Scottish benefits and challenge decisions are different from the rules for the other benefits in this Handbook.
•The rules on some other payments, including the Scottish Welfare Fund, council tax reduction and discretionary housing payments, are also different in Scotland, but these are not covered in this part of the Handbook.
