This chapter describes the residence and presence rules that affect your entitlement while you are in Great Britain. If you go abroad, see Chapter 69.
If you or your partner are not a European Economic Area (EEA) national, before using this chapter check Chapter 67 for information on how your immigration status can affect your entitlement to benefits and tax credits. If you are an EEA national, the European Union co-ordination rules may help you to satisfy the residence and presence tests when you are in the UK. These rules are outlined in Chapter 70.
