Chapter 21: Income: over pension age
This chapter covers:
1. Whose income counts (
here)
2. What counts as income (
here)
4. Income other than earnings (
here)
5. Notional income (
here)
6. Working out weekly income (
here)
This chapter explains the rules for working out your weekly income for pension credit (PC) and for housing benefit (HB) if you or your partner are over pension age and neither of you are on income support (IS), income-based jobseeker’s allowance (JSA), income-related employment and support allowance (ESA) or universal credit (UC). See
Chapter 20 for the rules for IS, income-based JSA and income-related ESA and for HB if you and your partner are under pension age. See
Chapter 7 for the rules for UC.
Note: whenever HB is referred to in this chapter, this only applies to the rules for people over pension age. The law refers to the qualifying age for PC rather than pension age, but since December 2018 this has been the same as pension age.
