When you move out of a care home, you will be entitled to benefits in the usual way. Your local adult social care department can advise you on local authority benefits and services available in your area.

If you leave the care home temporarily, the local authority can use its discretion to vary the personal expenses allowance to enable you to have more money while away (see 10 above ).

You may be able to claim personal independence payment daily living component or attendance allowance for periods away from the care home.
