1. Introduction
This chapter covers the
‘Access to Work’ scheme, which can provide grants to help you start work, stay in work or move into self-employment (see
2 below ). The chapter also covers the government training programmes that are on offer and how these affect your benefits (
see 3 and 4 below).
Most people who claim working-age benefits (ie universal credit, employment and support allowance and jobseeker’s allowance) have a ‘work coach’ allocated to them to deal with claims and provide information on work and training opportunities.
