•You may be able to get other payments and support in addition to your benefits. For some of these, you must be receiving a qualifying benefit.
•You may be able to get financial help from your local authority – eg, your council tax may be reduced, you may qualify for help under its welfare assistance scheme or your child may be able to get free school lunches.
•If you are an owner-occupier and getting universal credit or another means-tested benefit, you may be offered a loan from the DWP to help with your mortgage interest payments.
•If you are pregnant or a parent, you may be able to get a Healthy Start or Best Start Foods payment card for milk, fruit and vegetables, and free vitamins.
•You can get free childcare, or help with childcare costs, in certain circumstances.
•You may qualify for extra payments if you have an illness or disability due to serving in the armed forces.
•Other sources of financial help are available.
