When to use the Debt and Mental Health Evidence Form
Before the DMHEF is started, creditors or debt advisers should consider whether the evidence needs to be collected. If it is required, they should check if alternative evidence may be available which provides the same information. This could be copies of prescriptions, patient letters or other information which may confirm the client’s situation.
If a creditor decides the DMHEF should be used, they should give instructions and support to the client to make sure they get help completing the form.
UK Finance and the Credit Services Association have advised their members to accept any suitable evidence and only ask for the DMHEF as a last resort.
