5. Payments
Benefits are normally paid into a bank, building society or credit union account. If for some reason you are unable to open or use any of these accounts, you will be paid by the Payment Exception Service instead. You will be issued with a card or a voucher code (by email or text message) that can be used (with proof of identity) to collect payments at PayPoint outlets or Post Offices.
The following benefits are paid through wages: statutory sick pay, statutory maternity pay, statutory paternity pay, statutory parental bereavement pay, statutory adoption pay and statutory shared parental pay.
Compensation for delays
You may be due compensation if payments are delayed (see
Chapter 62(2)).
Forgotten PIN
If you have forgotten your PIN, ask for a replacement. Contact the bank or building society into which your benefit is paid.
