9. If your condition gets worse
To increase your assessment or extend the period it covers, you must ask for the decision to be superseded on the grounds of a change in circumstances. Any new assessment could be lower rather than higher. It could even be reduced to nil, which could then also involve a loss of reduced earnings allowance. Retirement allowance is not affected because it is awarded for life and not linked to any disablement assessment.
Try to get advice before applying. Be careful if you have now developed arthritis or spondylosis, as this can often lead to your disability being assessed as ‘constitutional’ and not due to the effects of your injury or prescribed disease.
