5. Care and mobility
Attendance allowance
This is a benefit for ill or disabled people who have reached pension age and have care or supervision needs. There is no upper age limit. See
Chapter 5 for details. In Scotland, attendance allowance is being replaced by pension age disability payment (see
Chapter 6(16)).
Personal independence payment and adult disability payment
If you have reached pension age, you cannot claim personal independence payment (PIP) or, in Scotland, adult disability payment (ADP) for the first time. However, if you were getting PIP or ADP before you reached pension age, you can retain your entitlement as long as you continue to meet the other qualifying conditions. See
