7. Statutory shared parental pay
Mothers can choose to give up their statutory maternity pay, maternity allowance or statutory adoption pay early, in which case the remaining pay will then be available to their partner as
‘statutory shared parental pay’ (SSPP). The conditions when this is possible are the same as for shared parental leave (see
2 above). In addition, you must have average gross weekly earnings of at least £123.
How much do you get? – SSPP is £184.03 a week, or 90% of your average weekly earnings (whichever is less).
