You can ask for a hardship payment using your online journal, by ringing the universal credit helpline (see Chapter 14(5)), or at your local Jobcentre Plus office. An interview will normally be arranged for you to provide the information and evidence needed to support your claim (eg evidence that you cannot meet your heating or fuel bills).
