4. How do you claim?
You can claim online or download a CH2 claim-form from: www.gov.uk/child-benefit/how-to-claim. Alternatively, you can call HMRC (see below) to ask for CH2.
If your child’s birth has been registered in England, Scotland or Wales, you will be asked on the form to provide details from the birth certificate; you will not need to send any documents with the form. In any other case, you will be asked to send the birth or adoption certificate with the form. Don’t delay making your claim; it can only be backdated for three months from the date HMRC receives it.
