•Responsibility for some benefits is devolved to the Scottish government.
•Several one-off grants and benefits for disabled people and carers will eventually be different in Scotland.
•The ongoing payments already introduced are adult disability payment, child disability payment and Scottish child payment.
•In the future, winter fuel payments, carer’s allowance, attendance allowance and industrial injuries benefits will also be replaced by new benefits.
•Social Security Scotland (part of the Scottish government) administers and pays the ‘Scottish benefits’.
•The rules about how to claim Scottish benefits and challenge decisions are different from the rules for the other benefits in this Handbook.
