Key facts
•To continue to qualify for ‘old-style’ jobseeker’s allowance (JSA), you must usually satisfy jobseeking conditions.
•If you do not meet the jobseeking conditions, your JSA may end.
•You and your partner may have to take part in work-focused interviews for income support (IS), ‘old-style’ JSA (as the partner of the claimant) or ‘old-style’ employment and support allowance (ESA).
•Some claimants of IS or ESA may be required to undertake work-related activity.
•If you do not take part in work-focused interviews or undertake work-related activity and you cannot show a good cause, you may be given a sanction.
•If you disagree with a decision that you are not entitled to benefit and/or to impose a sanction, you can apply for a revision or a supersession (see
Chapter 56), or appeal against the decision (see
Chapter 57). You must apply for a mandatory reconsideration before you can appeal.
