2. Whose capital counts
If you are a member of a couple

here), you must usually make a joint claim for universal credit (UC) and your partner’s capital is added to yours when working out your entitlement (see
here).

In the limited circumstances when you must make a single claim for UC despite being a member of a couple (see
here), your partner’s capital (and income) is still added to yours.
