Key facts
    •Universal credit (UC) has been introduced nationwide for new claims.
    •When you come under the UC system, UC replaces most other means-tested benefits and tax credits.
    •Current claimants of means-tested benefits and tax credits do not automatically come under the UC system, but can transfer to UC by ‘natural migration’ (eg, by claiming UC after a change of circumstances, or otherwise deciding to claim UC) or by the DWP’s ‘managed migration’ process.
    •The number of people transferred by managed migration is expected to increase during 2023. This process is currently not expected to be fully complete until 2028.
