2. Do you qualify?
To qualify for income-based JSA, you must meet the basic qualifying conditions for JSA set out in
Chapter 13(2) . In addition, you must meet all of the following conditions.
•You must have no income, or your income is below your ‘applicable amount’ (see
5 below ).
•You (and your partner) must not be claiming income support, income-related employment and support allowance or pension credit.
•You cannot have more than
£16,000 in savings or capital (see
Chapter 24(24) ).
•If you have a partner, they must not be working for 24 or more hours a week (see
3 below ).
•You must be aged 18 or over; or aged 16 or 17 and pass other tests (for details, see Disability Rights Handbook 46th edition, page 131).

You must not be subject to immigration control (see
Chapter 55(2) ) and must satisfy the habitual residence test (see
Chapter 55(4) ).
